FAQs
What is there to do in Broken Bow/Broken Bow Lake/Beavers Bend State Park?
The Broken Bow lake/Beavers Bend State Park area has something for everyone in your group.
Anglers will love the Broken Bow Lake/Mountain Fork River area. The lake is a 22 mile long, 14,000 acre freshwater lake that offers crystal blue water that is home to fish species such as bass, crappie and catfish to name a few. The chilly water of the Mountain Fork River is a trout angler’s paradise. The river meanders through the beautiful cliff-lined wilderness and is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of urban areas.. The trout are stocked twice a month.
If you’re a golfer, check out Cedar Creek golf course. The course is challenging with fast greens and lots of hazards in the woods. Many holes offer lake views. It is a beautiful course, even if it claims a lot of golf balls! Idabel Country Club is about 20 miles away with wide fairways and much more forgiving terrain.
If wine is your thing, Girls Gone Wine has a fun gift shop and tasty wine samplings. They also offer free wifi while relaxing on their patio. Vojai’s Winery also has a cute gift shop and a great selection of wines. Fish Tales is another winery with a great patio for sipping and tasting.
There is also an abundance of water activities. River rafting, canoeing, kayaking and floating in tubes down the Lower Mountain Fork River or the Glover River are a few of the favorites. Whichever you choose, it’s a great way to spend a few hours before heading back to your fabulous cabin in Beavers Bend to enjoy the company of your family and friends.
Located on Broken Bow Lake, Beavers Bend Marina has pontoon and ski boat rentals. They also rent inflatables so the kids can tube behind the boat. They also have jet ski rentals that are great for couples just wanting to cruise and tour the lake.
If water sports don’t float your boat (pun intended), how about horseback riding. There are a few options varying from no experience to super advanced.
Other attractions include paddle boats, bumper boats, mini golf, go carts, hiking, biking, scuba diving, the Forest Heritage Center, museums, children’s playground area, abundant wildlife, and so much more. Most of all…nature and relaxation.
Are there any restaurants in the area?
There are several restaurants located in the Hochatown / Beavers Bend area – Shady Oaks, Abendigos, Stevens Gap, Grateful Head Pizza and Tap Room, The Blue Rooster, Beavers Bend Café, The Rolling Fork and Hochatown Saloon. All are casual dress. The local convenience stores offer take-out food. There are additional restaurants in Broken Bow (approximately 8 miles away).
Are canoe rentals available?
Yes – half-day or full-day canoe rentals are available on the lower Mountain Fork River approximately 20 miles from your Beavers Bend luxury cabin. Also inside Beavers Bend State Park are canoe, paddle boat, bumper boat and kayak rentals. For more information go to the tourism website visitmccurtaincounty.com and follow the link to water sports. You can also click on the “Things To Do” link to find canoeing contact information. Advanced reservations are advised during the high peak season.
